Hi Internet!
Is it really such a big part of my nations culture that parents divorce that it's concidered the "norm"?
Today my five year old son asked in a cheerful everyday voice "mom, when are you going to divoce my dad?" - not that he doesn't like his father, but because of the fact that many - if not most - of his friends come from broken homes. Does he feel left out to be the only child not to have special "daddy weekends" ? or is it that he feels so burdened by the fact that he only has one bedroom? one closet or one home? What does promt the need for this question I want to know? I don't think there's anything in our homelife that suggests us getting a divorce, I mean, sure we do have our rows, we do have loud discussions about politics and things we don't quite agree on, but nothing that isn't normal - the thing is we're just in general loud and opinionated people who love to discuss things - sometimes a bit loud, but it's hardly ever personal...
Well I must go... thoughts on the matter are greatly appreciated :D

First Grade!
Hi Internet!
So my big boy Ragnar is turning six years old this year and in Iceland six year old's (this year all children born in 2004) start first grade. Which means that now is time to pick a school for him, we don't have the whole private schools with uniforms vs. public schools with Graffity and gangs, we just have nice public schools that go by different methods and such so it's difficult to pick, do I pick the nearest school (next street over, he can walk without crossing roads) even though there are a few things I'm not really happy about with their curriculum and ways of teaching. or do I pick the school in the other end of town, which is in a not so great environment (big street very close by) but goes by the discipline method I prefer and also is an Olweius (sp?) institution (it's a method against bullying) or do I pick the one stationed right next to a river but is also a Olweius (sp?) school? then there is the one school with the age differing class units, the school focuses on individual studies and isn't age divided like the regular grade system but kids within a 2-3 year age difference are joined up in study groups and classes with two or more teachers per class (as opposed to the one teacher per classroom in other schools) - they do have a similar discipline method as we do (like the school that is closest to us) but they don't have a special anti-bullying program (the school next to ours has a weird system against bullying that I think is a big wad of BS In my humble opinion)
Now I must also take into account that my son is in the preschool right next to the closest school and most of his buddies and friends are going to go there, and he has allready worked a lot with that school in a program called "walking over the bridge" refferring to the big change between a pre-school and the school that goes from 1st-1oth grade. So he would be very confortable in his skin going to that school with his friends and being close by home and we could walk him to school (his sister is next door in the preschool) but then again I have heard bad things about it *sigh* this is a big and difficult decision so I really wonder if I'll make the right one....
Well I'm going to a meeting where they will have presentation for each school, tonight and next week the school's will have open house for the parents to see how they work in action and such so that should be interesting....*sigh*
Thanks for listening

Hi Internet!
So tomorrow is the first day of school this semester and I am dreading Math!
I seriously lost my courage when it comes to Math with the flunking of last semester, I really really really hate myself for ruining it for myself so badly, I seriously dread it so much I can't help it, I really should have passed but my brain just doesn't seem to have the ability to learn math :(
I'm pretty excited about History, I quit it last semester because I was having a hard time with Math and Biology at the same time for some reason so I am taking it this semester instead.
I am also very exited about Danish and Icelandic. and I'm sure I'll pass the English quite easily :D
well on to other things, my mood has been low these days, I don't know why, but for some reason my medication seems to not be working properly lately :( my anxiety is also flaring up...
I am back to my pre-holidays weight, I am quite happy about that, if you were Icelandic you would know that we accumulate weight during the holidays, not only fat from candy and yummy cakes and desserts but we also retain water do to very salty holiday feasts LOL
I still haven't looked into gym memberships but I've been doing a dance exercise every day LOL - just shut the door and blinds and have a blast LOL
As for the smoking, I'm doing pretty good, I've only had two or three sigarettes in the new year and although I have no intentions of smoking anymore I think it's better to have low nicotine sigarettes with me in school, at least for the first few days, if I get too tempted LOL - I don't want to bum full nicotine doze cigarettes LOL
As for the home organizing and mt. washmore climbing I am at square one! - I haven't done any job searching nor coat sewing either, but I think that will happen some other week/month LOL
But all in all I am pretty OK about myself :)

New Years resolutions....
So I guess I'll have to make a list of goals to accomplish this year.
I want to pass math, that is my #1 priority,
I want to successfully quit smoking again - seriously, I did fall badly off the wagon when I started school!
I want to loose another 15 kg and I'll be pretty happy about myself.
I want to start working out at a gym, but we will see if I can afford a gym membership later in the year.
I want to get my home organized and decluttered, and I want to get atop of my laundry!
I hope to get a part time job with school this year to try and make more money then we spend each month, that would be great :D
And I want to sow a coat for Kapitola, I have this great material I found in my grandmother's fabric chest and I want to find a cute design to use and finish it.
And next Christmas I want to send Christmas cards to people, and be done with them in time!!!

Christmas Guilt
Hi internet!
So maybe it's just the fact that I've been reading "I don't know how she does it" by Allison Pearson but I have been suffering from terrible Christmas guilt this year, I feel like I haven't bought good enough presents for my friends and family ( for those I did buy gifts for at all that is) and I feel terrible about all the post cards never sent, no my very old great aunts and uncles don't get a Christmas card from mrs. Scrooge this year - and I feel terrible! - I honestly meant to make these great photoshopped cards with a picture of the family in our finest and the cute little kittens sporting father Christmas hats(photoshopped) in front a huge live Christmas tree decorated perfectly á la Monica Geller (Bing) but no... by the beginning of December I had decided that a live tree wouldn't be happening this year, I would deck the tiny plastic Christmas tree since 1985 or 1986 (when I was one or two years old) like the last few years, still hoping it won't melt from heat from the lights... At that point a cute picture of the kids since Easter was going to suffice. But that didn't happen, by middle of December I was suffering from stress induced "startpanic" (that is you can't get yourself started on a project do to the stress and panic about it) that I kept pushponing it, cause I was so sure it would take AGES to get done, and I would need my Grandmother's computer for that. At the same time I was dreading the sewing of living room curtains ( I had quit halfway through some time back in November after screwing up the length on two of the curtains so I wasn't really up for it anyway) cleaning of house (if anybody knows what CHAOS or SHE stands for they know what I go through) baking for Christmastreegathers at the school of musical arts and the preschool, and needless to say, I was dreading the Christmas presents and cards. So what do I do? - yup I play Sims 3 (somehow making my Sims lives perfect seemed to ease the guilt a bit) I hang out with my 17 year old friend who doesn't have a home or family to take care of (somehow makes me feel young and not think about my responsibilities) and then the classic - smoke a lot (makes me feel good although it does increase the guilt in the money department, since cigarettes cost a lot) ohh and let's not forget the eating of candy - a classic way to ease guilt - Chocolate is the perfect way to forget your worries and feel the beauty in life *ahhhhh* now where was I? ohh yes, unsent Christmas cards. So on December 22nd at 23:25 I sit on the computer, feeling guilty about not sending the 23 christmas cards to USA (for my slapper friends) because - let's face it I can't afford the postage (I am officially flat broke, I do have some change, but my bank account is empty, my husbands account is empty, our savings account is empty and we don't have any money that don't rattle... yup that's how broke I am!) so I didn't get around to sending the ornament for the secret santa thing either, I will make that up to my friend in the new year, I will send her a carepack instead - much better then a single ornament, a bunch of never before seen Icelandic treats :D So let's get back to why I didn't send any postcards to my elderly great aunts and uncles nor to any of my friends let me tell you. I AM LAZY! I AM SO LAZY THAT IF I HAD TO HOLD DOWN SHIFT THE WHOLE TIME TO USE CAPS I WOULD NEVER WRITE THIS IN CAPS!
I'm funny I know...
well I will get back to my partially clean but decorated home and crawl in bed with my son (the cats left strange smells in his room today, I need to investigate tomorrow but not a chance I will do so tonight, see statement on Lazyness) and the two kitten one of whom will probably keep me awake trying to lick the inside of my nose through my nosedrills - let me tell you - it's not a plesent feeling!
Have a very merry and hopefully guilt free Christmas and a happy new year I hope in the new year I will have something interresting to say on here but for now I'll just say Goodnight :D

Hi Internet
I am sitting here waiting for my friend to finish her shower... I just colored her hair and I can't wait to see how it turns out ;D
It's weird about friendsships, they just start, one minute your outside having a sigarette and meet a person you've never seen before, a few weeks later, she's one of your closest friends and hanging out with you all the time... :) - I haven't had a friend like that in a LONG time - I have been so busy living my life with my family, kids, house, husband - you know the works - that I haven't even been thinking about it... but now I realise how much I miss having someone to talk to about things, to chat with when I have a moment to myself, to just be able to hang out with and not HAVE to do something special...
Well this is very random...
